Looking for JotForm alternatives?
With a great number of form builders available on the market, choosing the right one for your specific needs can be a real mess. Sometimes the most popular solutions just won’t cut it for you and that’s why you need to start looking at the alternatives.
JotForm has been around since 2006 and millions of people have used it so far. While some swear by it, others have found that there are other tools out there that better accommodate their needs.
Before we present you with some of the strongest JotForm alternatives, let’s seek help from those who know the tool the best – the actual JotForm users – to determine which aspects of the app did not fully meet their expectations or could use some additional improvements.
Why seek a JotForm alternative?
*Includes JotForm reviews by actual users, taken from Capterra.com
There’s no denying that JotForm is a great app for creating all kinds of forms. A lot of people use it. Many of them love it. Still, it’s not for everybody. Some users have become disenchanted with it and are left looking for JotForm alternatives that would better suit their needs.
Before we share with you 3 apps similar to JotForm (but superior in at least some areas), it would make sense to determine why you should be looking for a JotForm alternative in the first place. To do so, we’ve made a selection of some of the most recent JotForm reviews on Capterra, especially focusing on what users have listed as cons.
(Disclaimer: There are numerous pros as well, of course, but in order to find the best JotForm alternative, we want to look into the main issues and concerns their customers are having to see whether any other similar app on the market can help address those more efficiently.)
Below, you’ll find some screenshots of the actual JotForm user reviews captured from Capterra:
To sum up, these are just some of the major complaints users typically have:
- Outdated look of forms and templates
- Customization limitations, difficult to adjust to their branding
- Inadequate customer service and lack of proper help documentation
- Buggy 3rd party integrations
But what about the JotForm competitors?
We’ve examined some of the most popular JotForm alternatives to come up with a shortlist of tools to consider.
Top 3 JotForm alternatives
LeadQuizzes is a web platform that enables users to simply create quizzes for lead generation and audience segmentation. Even though it started as a quiz platform, it later expanded so as to allow the creation of other types of data collectors such as surveys and forms. It can be used to easily create visually appealing forms that let you collect data in an engaging and non-boring way.
LeadQuizzes forms are used by marketers, entrepreneurs, ecommerce people, and others to create interactive forms for data collection, gathering feedback, collecting orders, and more. The tool allows you to create content from scratch or use some of 75+ ready-made templates.
So, how does LeadQuizzes fare against JotForm?
Let’s take into account some of the main concerns JotForm users have been having (shared above).
Versatility and customization
Just like its name promises, JotForm is your go-to source for all things form-related. Contrary to what its name hints at, LeadQuizzes offers you much more than quizzes – you can use it to create beautiful and highly-customizable forms and surveys too.
Let’s say you need to create an online contact form. You could use either JotForm or LeadQuizzes to do this and both would help you do a great job. But what happens if you decide to further engage with your newly-gathered contact list?
Sending an occasional survey or quiz might be a great way to keep your audience engaged and pique their interest in your products or services. If you’ve used JotForm to create your form, you’d need to pay for another tool if you want to create other interactive forms as well (such as quizzes and surveys).
LeadQuizzes, on the other hand, lets you easily create all types of interactive content aimed at data collection, market research, and segmentation. It can be your one go-to tool for interactive content, keeping you away from shuffling between multiple tools, and spending money on more than one subscription.
If you were to check out some of the templates on the JotForm website, your first impression might be that they look somehow outdated. At least mine was. Check out this student registration form, for example:
Sure, all the necessary fields and drop-downs are there, the layout makes perfect sense, but the form itself just looks too 2000-ish to my liking.
Perhaps it’s just a subjective impression, but if you were to check out the Capterra reviews shared at the beginning once again, you would notice other people also stating that “forms are starting to look a little out of date”, they “could use more contemporary templates”, and when it comes to customizing and styling the forms – “it has limitations”.
LeadQuizzes forms, however, are colorful, look modern, and can be easily customized to a great extent. You can seamlessly adjust the colors, fonts, borders, opacity, add images, backgrounds, and insert different types of fields, dropdowns, checklists, etc. Just like in the example below:
Templates & integrations
When it comes to preloaded content, JotForm comes with amazing 10,000+ templates. Even though some might seem a bit repetitive or outdated, this is an amazing base of ready-made content. LeadQuizzes, on the other hand, offers a significantly smaller number of templates (78) but they’ve all been professionally written and designed for a contemporary look and feel.
Speaking of 3rd party integrations, some JotForm users have complained about the bugginess of those leading to loss of data. LeadQuizzes, on the other hand, offers seamless integration with the most popular marketing tools out there, whether through native integrations or via Zapier.
Finally, this shouldn’t really be a matter of JotForm vs. LeadQuizzes.
Both are great tools that come with their own pros and cons. You just need to determine which one is a better fit for your needs.
(Disclaimer: I work at LeadQuizzes. But that doesn’t change the fact that it’s a great tool! Don’t take my word, try it for FREE and see for yourself.)
2. Google Forms
Although it offers a free Starter plan, JotForm is not really free if you’re thinking of using it at a larger scale. Its free plan is valid for up to 5 forms, 100 submissions, and 1,000 monthly form views only, so if you’re planning to do any kind of more serious data collection, this is hardly going to suffice.
That being said, you will most likely have to opt for a paid subscription starting at $29/month (billed monthly) up to $99/month if you’re looking to exploit the full potential of the JotForm forms.
Looking for a free JotForm alternative? Look no further than Google Forms.

Google Forms let you collect data from your respondents in a simple way that requires no coding skills or design knowledge. And sometimes that’s all you really need. You don’t really need a fancy-looking and features-rich form to get someone’s name and email, right?
This works great if you don’t actually need to engage your audience into completing the form. If design and customization play an important role in your business, you should probably consider using a paid tool. That being said, the main point of comparison between Google Forms and JotForm has to be the price.
When it comes to personal use, Google Forms is completely free and anyone who possesses a Gmail account (also free, of course) can use it. If you are a more advanced user who needs to use Google Forms Business, you would need to have an active G Suite account.
Unlike JotForm, which is a classic web app, WPForms comes in the form of a lightweight plugin that functions as a drag-and-drop WordPress form builder.
WPForms makes it easy (or “stupid simple” as they advertise) to create online forms in WordPress with little to no coding knowledge. It’s used by business owners, developers, designers, bloggers, photographers – pretty much everyone who is likely to use a WordPress website. The main issue with this tool – it works with WordPress only.
More reliable customer support
According to the reviewers on G2, the main advantages of WPForms, compared to JotForm, are its ease of use and impeccable customer support (if you remember the Capterra reviews from the beginning, many users complained about a poor experience with the JotForm customer service).
With hundreds of form builders on the market, it’s difficult to know which one will be the best investment for your time and money. As this isn’t one of those huge lists with dozens of tools you won’t have the time to test individually, we did our best to provide you with 3 completely different JotForm alternatives.
A versatile quiz, survey, and form maker – LeadQuizzes.
A free form tool from Google’s workshop – Google Forms.
And a plugin-based WordPress form builder – WPForms.
Hopefully, at least one of those tools will provide to be a viable alternative to JotForm – if for any reason you’re considering switching to another tool or simply doing competitor research to make sure you’re choosing the right tool for your needs.
Ultimately, the safest way to make a good decision is to test each of the tools on your own. To get a 14-day FREE trial of LeadQuizzes (with UNLIMITED features), click here.
